Am I the only one that eats an avocado with sugar and milk?

Everyone that sees me eat it is absolutely disgusted. When in actuality it’s DELICIOUS! Maybe because it’s green?? My husband calls them ‘pears’, (he’s a foreigner!) and just eats them like you would a cantaloupe or a banana. I say that that is quite disgusting! Anyway, has anyone tried it prepared my way?

First, see the different types of avocados here:

http://www.avocado.org/about/varieties

I’ve always used the fuerte avocados. I’m not sure how the other types would turn out. I don’t think much different.

Anyway..short and simple..this is the ‘recipe’….

(Make sure your avocado is ripe. Somewhat soft to the touch when squeezed. Not hard as a rock! The insides should be easy to spoon out.)

-Take one large avocado…cut it in half, remove the seed
-Scoop out the flesh into a blender
-Add about 3/4 cup of milk
-Add about 3 tablespoons of sugar
-Mix, Mix, Mix…until as smooth as yogurt.

VOILA! Done. It is so delicious!

There’s really no set amount of sugar or milk to put into it. It’s just made to your liking. The more milk/sugar you add..the lighter in color it turns out to be.

Nowadays, I prefer to just prepare it with a fork as opposed to a blender. I like the avocado chunks in there. Sweet yet salty.

If you try it…let me know how it turns out and if you like it!

BTW..I’m not sure of the health benefits of it..I guess it all depends on how much sugar that you add/don’t add.
Oh yeah…or you can substitue whole milk and sugar with sweetened condensed milk. This often turns out really sweet!

This recipe is inspired by my mother..a native of the Philippine Islands.

Avocado, Tomato, and Red Onion Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette

One of those fruit I crave is Avocado, although mistaken for a vegetable, contains 13 vitamins, which our body absolutely needs. I can’t help myself but to grab one or two each time when I pass by them at the produce section. This recipe I have put together all started with a bag of fresh avocados I’ve bought at Costco, and it was exciting to use them in whatever I was making, most often in sandwiches, salsa, and plain with little bit of sprinkled salt. With this recipe, I have used everyone’s favorite, Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing, and to enhance the taste and appearance, I’ve added tomatoes and red onion. My family and friends love this Avocado recipe that is both nutritious and delicious. Try this easy, tasty and nutritious salad!

Do you know how to make/ what this Mexican sauce is called?

At my favorite restaurant they have a dish called Chicken Monterey. It’s basically a piece of chicken with cheese on top, but the sauce is amazing. It’s green and I know there’s tomatillo, avocado, jalapeno, and onion in it. It’s served warm and very spicy, tangy and sweet. Do you know what this sauce is called and have a recipe for it? Thanks.

What are your favorite (healthy/vegetarian) omelette fillings!?

Okay for the egg part (whisked together)….

about a half cup of egg whites,
2 tbsp of soymilk,
a half tsp of baking powder (add fluffiness),
garlic powder,
onion powder,
salt,
pepper,
about a tablespoon of flax seed
sprinkle of nutritional yeast

and for the fillings..

(corn, salsa, beans, fat free cheddar cheese, chili powder, cumin)
(any combo of sauteed onion, tomato, mushroom, broccoli, spinach, or other fresh veggies)
(fat free cream cheese, spinach, mushrooms, little lemon juice)
(Tomato, spinach, Meal Starter crumbles, steak seasoning)

Okay so basically I am totally out of filling ideas. I would love to know what you put in your omelets!!! Whether it is a random combo (spinach, tomato, and certain seasonings) OR it has a theme (southwestern, Chinese, BBQ “chicken”, etc.)

PS. I wouldn’t mind a few avocado-including recipes. im trying to increase my good-fat intake! Thanks!!!

Facial Mask Recipes Anyone?

I’m looking for facial mask recipes that either moisturize or fight acne that are easy to make at home. Maybe something along the lines of an avocado mask. It would be great if the recipe had both qualities listed above. Thanks SO much!

Atkins: induction recipes?

I need some Atkins recipes for Induction. I’m just not an egg person which really stinks; I wish I did like them.

I don’t like tomatoes or avocados, and I only buy a couple things at a time because fresh food goes bad fast and I would be the only one eating it so I try to stick with green peppers, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach. But I’m willing to read options with other veggies. And, also, the meats I eat are chicken, turkey, and tuna. I eat red meat sometimes; but it’s only when my husband does.

If you need anymore information please ask (:

Recipes and advice for a teen who feeds herself?

I work, i use most of the money to buy good organic food, and i eat it myself. I do have a mother, but she is gone every other week and we rarely see eachother. She is a good cook, but for the past couple of years she has eaten little or she eats very bad food.

So are there simple, quick and easy things I can make?

I basically live off eggs, avocados, olives, dairy products, chicken, beef, salmon, tuna, berries, tomatoes, and occasionally bread.

I love it, but its getting old, and I’m running out of ways to prepare canned tuna! especially for school…..

i’m 17 and have little cooking experience
